Look closely at all BALL watches and you'll see two distinctive letters: RR. Railroad. This enduring legacy dates back more than 125 years to the era of powerful locomotives, growing freedom and the obsession of Webb C. Ball, whose watchmaking expertise and high precision standards changed watchmaking forever. The Ball brand owes its birth to a train accident near Cleveland, USA, which was caused by a malfunctioning watch on the driver's wrist. The consequences of the accident prompted the responsible authorities to take steps to prevent similar tragedies. The Ball brand founder Webb C. Ball was entrusted with its implementation. The measures that he proposed consisted of strict control, accuracy certification and time synchronisation with regard to watches worn by key railway personnel, this increased travel safety significantly. Today, the BALL brand is one of the most recognised and established watch brands in the United States. Its constantly updated and modernised range of mechanical wristwatches is proof of its efforts to keep pace with the changing consumer tastes and demands. Despite changes in appearance, the brand's basic pillar - industrial function - remains the most important. It's supported by original solutions, such as a dial with preserved details regarding standard railway watches. Every little thing, from the shape of the hands to the style of numbers, was determined by the brand's founder in an effort to achieve the highest possible accuracy in relation to time measurement and reading. Of course, it's not just about design. No less important are innovations and production quality. In addition to the convincing level of craftsmanship, this is also guaranteed by Swiss production. All premium models and movements, including the in-house calibre RRM7309-C and its modifications with chronometer precision, 80-hour power reserve and a silicon flywheel, are created in the factory located in the well-known watchmaking city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. However, what makes Ball watches unmissable (especially at night) is their dial illumination system, which they introduced in 2001 as a world first in the mechanical watch category. Therefore, although tritium-filled glass ampoules are used by several manufacturers nowadays, Ball is one of the few who perfected this technology and its incorporation into watches. Other famous solutions that come from the Ball workshops and can be seen in this brand's watches include the Oscillator SpringSEAL's anti-shock construction, the patented anti-magnetic barrier in the form of an A-PROOF® lamellar screen, the Amortiser® rotor locking or the protection of the flywheel hair against crossing due to the impact of SpringLOCK®. All the mentioned innovations are part of the Ball brand's vision, in which the decisions of modern men and women keep the whole world going.
