EDOX - a watch that has time measurement with the name, in the logo and in its essence. The traditional Les Genevez based brand, entered the waters of the Swiss watch industry as early as 1884. Christian Rüefli-Flury took care of this when he set up a watch company in the town of Biel/Bienne called Edox on the initiative of his wife Pauline. In 1890, an iconic hourglass symbol was added to the name, which means "time measurement" in English. The brand's strength was tested by the death of its founder in 1921, but thanks to the prophetic specialisation in wristwatches, at a time when this new concept started to gain in popularity at the expense of pocket watches, this brand did not stop growing and expanding production. In 1955, Edox was one of the leading Swiss watch companies, and their name has long resonated outside their home country. However, the best was just awaited the brand. The revolutionary Delfin, Bluebird and Geoscope models literally brought a wave of fame. The Delfin watches mentioned in 1961 had a crown with a double seal and a water resistance of up to 500M. This model's patented design has not only become an Edox hallmark, but also the basis for design solutions that are still used by other major Swiss brands. The durable and also waterproof model Bluebird (1969) stainless steel model was another remarkable achievement, whereby the Gyroscope watch's equipment included a double lid and shock absorbers. The following year, Edox launched the Geoscope, this was considered to be the first real GMT watch. Its rotating dial was covered in a realistic miniature world map, this feature made it a highly prized collector's item. However, even the design success didn't save Edox from the pitfalls of the quartz crisis. In 1973, they bought shares in the Association of Swiss Watch Manufacturers (ASUAG, now Swatch Group), but even that failed to reverse the unfavourable development. Then director of the Edox brand, Victor Straambini, ended the hardship and acquired all the shares from ASUAG in 1983, focusing on dynamism, elegance and technical innovation when rebuilding the brand - values that Edox still has pride in. The decision to focus on dynamics later gave rise to partnerships with sporting organisations such as the F1 Motorboat World Championship, the World Rally Championship, the Dakar Rally, the Extreme Sailing Series and the World Curling Federation. Everywhere, Edox exercises its timekeeping skills, not only as an official timekeeper, but also as a supplier and manufacturer of watches adapted for the sport. This is how the CO-1, Chronorally, Grand Ocean and SkyDiver collections were created. The CO-1 model line was developed especially for motorboat racer Pål Virik Nilsen. Edox CO-1 watches are made from high-quality materials such as ceramic, stainless steel or rubber and among other things, their features include an automatic helium valve. Depending on the model, you can choose whether you want to wear a watch with a mechanical or quartz drive. If you're looking for a watch for water sports, don't miss the Grand Ocean series offer, where models are characterised with a balance of performance and style. They're not only elegant, but also accurate, reliable and endowed with the functions and features necessary for regattas. Is sailing not enough for you and do you want to go deeper? Try it with the SkyDiver collection and its extreme Neptunian models with water resistance up to 1000M. Of course, in keeping with the water connection, we must also mention the reborn Delfin line, which is by far the most numerous collection within the Edox brand. It suits everyone - men, ladies, athletes and elegant people. Three-hand models, chronographs and also the impressive Mecano watches with a cut dial and skeletonised automatic calibres all have their place. If you prefer a solid surface but don't want to give up speed, we definitely recommend Chronorally chronographs with their dominant red control button and ergonomically designed dials, where X-Treme Pilot editions stand out. Due to more than 130 years' experience in the watch industry, Edox can definitely be called an expert in technical innovation. And although there may be more well-known Swiss watch brands, Edox is more than a good competitor in terms of quality, price and style.
